It was assumed that there is only one way to lead as an effective leader and that certain behaviors meant good leadership such as having high concerns for their followers (Dugan, 2017). The time period that behavioral approach took place was between the 1950s to early 1980s. A few world events contributed to this approach, one was during the post-war era after World War II.
