What is your opinion on this?

I think moving over to virtual machines and containers is a great idea especially to lower the cost of having to buy more physical hardware. With the switch to virtualization it will be easier to perform multiple tasks on one desktop instead of doing everything solely on the primary one. In the midst of having a virtual machine one should be able to get a lot of work done in a shorter time frame than it would take on a single computer for instance, I use a virtual machine for my more intensive applications like for gaming or editing videos while my main monitor is used for something light weight. I believe using containers is a good idea as well mainly because it gives users the ability to run a small service to a larger application that will allow companies to run a smaller operating system that can perform light weight tasks and other functions while the actual operating system does the heavy intensive task.
