Part1-Observation

For this task you are required to observe the behaviour of three children aged between 3 - 4 years, over aperiodoftwo daysusing the Group ObservationRecord.You willneedto:

• seek advice from your workplace supervisor when selecting the children. Try to identify two childrenwhose behaviour might be considered disruptive at times (but not extremely challenging).If permittedseeksome basicinformation about the child'sbackground.
• Askthechild'sparenttosigntheobservationconsentform
• Describe any disruptive/concerning behaviour that you observe.You should not shadow the child ormake it known to the child that you are recording behaviour - do not act in any way that may upset orhumiliatethe child.
• Writeananalysisofyourobservations:
  • Whatbehavioursarebeingexhibited?
  • When?
  • Why?
  • Consequences?

Part2-BehaviourManagementPlan

For this task you are required to devise a Behaviour Management Plan for one of the children observed in'ObservingBehaviourPart1'inlinewithrelevantservicepoliciesandprocedures.Discusswithrelevantstaffmembers/familyas appropriate.

UsingtheBehaviourManagementPlanidentify:

• thebehaviourthatisofmostconcern(basedonyourobservations)

• behaviour goal/s. For example: 'J. will use his words when feeling angry.'J. will apply the rule 'we donot hurt each other' we use our words'. (You may need to refer to the centre's behaviourmanagementpolicy toidentifybehaviourexpectations)
• justificationforyourgoalandstate howitsupportsthe child
• strategiesyouwillusetoassistthechildtomodify thetargetedbehaviour/s.

Implement your plan over 2 weeks' minimum and on the end of each week complete the evaluation ofstrategiesandoutcomesandsuggestanymodificationsoradjustmentsthatmaybenecessary.
