You are going to college starting in September. You decide to live o-campus. You sign a one-year lease with a landlord to rent an apartment. You are 17 years old when you sign the lease. The landlord doesn't have a parent guarantee the lease. You are going to pay for the monthly rent through a part-time job you got. You start school, pay September's rent, and boom you lost your job. You get enough money together for October's rent but you don't have enough for November. A friend tes you that a room has become available in her apartment. The rent is much cheaper. So, you te your landlord you are moving out. Your landlord argues you are bound to the lease for a year. Your landlord sues you for the remaining 10 months you owe. You turned 18 years old at the end of September when you made the October payment. Can you make an argument to get out of the lease? Can the landlord raise an argument and if yes, what would it be?
