Their main contributions are towards driving value by keeping a business agile, bridging the technology - business gap and improving efficiency. This assessment requires you to identify data-driven digital trends and elicit requirements to balance a technologically feasible and functional digital transformation strategy for an organisation of own choosing. Students are free to choose any relevant digital technology or function for consideration in the context of chosen organisation. To help you build the essential digital business skills, in assessment 4, you are required to write a structured 2000-word enterprise-level business (digital) needs analysis report for a business of your choice. You are required to describe the characteristics of your chosen business and its industry and explain the problem to form the background of the report. The report then needs to capture the following key components: the purpose of the needs analysis, brief literature review on the area of investigation, methods, findings, conclusion and recommendations. Tasks Business (Digital) Needs Analysis Report (2000 words + figures and tables) Executive summary (not included in word count, 200 words max) Business background (250 words max) . o Business description and problem delineation o Industry background and digital trends Purpose of the needs analysis (250 words max) o Describe why the analysis is needed now with reference to business environmental conditions o Literature review (350 words max) o Explain key concepts and constructs related to the focus of the analysis using appropriate citations Identify analysis objectives and their alignment to business mission/values 0 Articulate the relevance of the concepts or constructs with reference to one or two business characteristics (e.g. value proposition, innovation objectives, customer demands, etc.) . . Methods (250 words max) o Explain the methods used to conduct the analysis and how they relate to the key questions/objectives of the needs analysis Choose one or two methods from those covered in the lecture (e.g. Brainstorming, Benchmarking, Root cause analysis/Ishikawa diagram, User stories, etc.) Findings and Discussion (350 words) This section should report your findings of the problem analysis o Interpret the findings with reference to business background and literature review Include any assumptions that need to be made in interpreting the findings Conclusion: What the needs? (300 words) Recommendations (250 words) Reference list Appendices The word count is a guide, excludes figures and tables, and has a 20% tolerance. You must include a cover page, table of contents and reference list. These items are not part of the word count. You may also include appendices after the reference list. Key points to remember All assessments must be submitted electronically through the learning portal. Late submissions incur a penalty of 5% of the final assignment mark per day. A draft may be submitted for this assessment in the 'draft' tab on learning portal. One draft submission only - due 1 week before the assessment due date. The purpose of a draft is to provide high-level feedback, guidance and support in delivering against key assignment objectives/criteria. While some attention to academic expression, referencing practice and general presentation will be offered, the draft facility does not allow for review of prospective plagiarism or academic misconduct. When reviewing your draft, your lecturer will assume you have complied with La Trobe policies on academic misconduct and understand the seriousness of plagiarism. .
