You have been approached by the Full-Time Supermarket Chain to redesign the computerized system to manage the stock control for the supermarket chain.

All goods to be sold by the supermarket chain have bar codes, which identify the product. Each supermarket branch has an address and a branch name. For each product, the computer system will separately track the inventory counts held in its storeroom (i.e. storeroom items) and the shop floor (i.e. shop floor items). The inventory item held on the shop floor (i.e. shop floor item) will be updated at the checkout counters as customers purchase the goods. A product should at least have 2 suppliers. These suppliers are common throughout the supermarket chain. When the supplies of an item on the shop floor falls below a predetermined amount, all respective supermarket branch supervisors need to be notified that the item needs to be restocked from the local storeroom. When the supplies of a product in the storeroom fall below a predetermined amount, the system needs to contact a supplier. Once the new stock arrives, a supervisor needs to record inventory information in the system. The system is only required to maintain the current inventory amounts for a given product.

Consider a class diagram for the stock control system of the supermarket chain described in the case study (7 marks).

When designing the class diagram include at least one generalization relationship.

a)Identify 4 significant candidate classes which should be included in your class diagram.

b)Identify 1 candidate class which should not be included in your class diagram based on the given case study and give a brief but precise comment on why it will be rejected.

c)Prepare a class diagram for the stock control system, indicating the classes, the associations, and their multiplicities. You should also indicate attributes and operations (behaviors) mentioned in the case study description.
