You have been in HR for 8 years. Three weeks ago you joined your third employer, Chicken Pluckers, Inc., as HR Manager. Chicken Pluckers is a family-owned, meat processing plant with 400 employees. Your new boss, the CEO/President was in the executive lunch room with some of his key managers. The CEO asked you for your initial reactions to the plant. You pulled up your notes and told him you had three ideas for improvement you would like to share. He sarcastically laughed at your readiness and said some negative personal statements regarding employees and their lack of motivation and drive. You were appalled by how he referred to people by race, age, nationality, and gender. But you need this job, so you want to dig in and make this a better place for you and the employees. Seeing how employees are treated, you realize that you work for an ethically/morally-challenged organization, that definitely does not believe employees are their greatest assets!
Please respond to the following:
As the HR Manager in this organization, what steps would you take to try to change this situation? Why? Draw in your background readings and/or library research. Bring in real-life employer examples. Make reasonable assumptions, as needed.
