Your responses should be in essay form, using complete sentences. Length will vary depending on writing style but your submission should be a minimum of 200 words per question for a total of 400 words for the assignment. Please use Times New Roman 12 or Ariel 12 font and double space. Submit your answers as ONE document with each question set and individual questions clearly numbered. Citations for sources must be included within the paper and a list of those sources must be included at the end of the paper.

1. Select one of the three classic theories – function, conflict or symbolic interactionism. Use that theory to explain college education as a fact of social life in the United States. You may use your book and other sources as needed. Remember you are to think sociologically.

2. Each of the theories in this unit has flaws. Choose one of the theories and briefly explain where you think that theory misses the point or goes wrong in how it explains the social world. Be sure to fully explain your points.
