Beaver Manufacturing Corporation Job Title: Drafter 1 Reports to: Head of Drafting Job Purpose Department: Engineering (Drafting Section) Updated: January 15, 2013 This employee utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) techniques to produce and update drawings of plant facilities, based on rough sketches, diagrams, notes, and verbal instructions provided by design engineers. Main Job Duties (listed duties are illustrative, not restrictive) 1. Prepare finished CAD drawings from sketches, diagrams, notes, and verbal instructions. 2. Search computer databases for existing information on which to base drawings. 3. Meet with engineers to clarify drawing requirements and to discuss revisions to drawings. 4. Assist with site verifications of existing facilities. 5. Share in filing of facilities records. 6. Assist other staff in locating facilities records information. Other Job Information Works under the supervision of senior drafters, who check product before sending it to engineers for final approval. Engineers provide final check on output. If undetected, errors can cause serious facilities damage. Basic keyboarding skills and ability to utilize computer-assisted design equipment are required. Considerable concentration is required to transform input materials into finished product. Work is mainly performed in a quiet office environment. Some exterior facilities inspection required.
