You have just seen a post on your university’s Facebook page that says that they are looking for people to work at open days for new students. You have checked the dates, and they do not clash with your classes or exams.

You have quickly jotted down a response, but you think it needs some adjustment before you send it:

Dear Sir/Madam I understand you are looking for open day workers? I’ve been working in the fast food industry part-time to help fund my studies for the past two years and have great experience in dealing with people, even difficult ones in different environments.

I have a good knowledge of the campus and university life and I am keen to promote the university to the new cohorts of students. The extra money would also be really useful!

I am hoping that I am not too late to make the application; it was not clear just how long the post advertising the work had been on the site. I would welcome the opportunity of discussing the role with you.
