Click on “Poverty.” On the poverty data page, look for the most recent document titled “Income and Poverty” (or a similar title). (This is the same publication used in the data exercise for Chapter 7). Find Table 3, which provides information on people in poverty by selected characteristics. (Table 14-2 of this chapter focused on families.)

Using these data, look at differences in (official) poverty rates for individuals by age, race, nativity, and work experience. What might explain these differences given discussions in this chapter and earlier ones?
