Consider two samples taken for distribution of income in California and Wisconsin. The sample for California collected income information from 250 households and the sample for Wisconsin collected income information from 150 households. The data was categorized in three income strata: high- income group (income more than $150,000); medium income group (income of $60,000 up to $150,000); and low income group (income less than $60,000). Using 5% level of significance, test the null hypothesis that the distribution of households with regard to income level is similar (homogeneous) for the two states.
