Text data can sometimes be quite intimidating. As an example, the file P18_14.txt has data on all organizations convicted in federal courts in 2007. If you open it in Notepad, it won't make a bit of sense. Fortunately, there is a "codebook" in the file P18_14.pdf. (It is common for government and other organizations to publish such codebooks.)
