A campus wide survey was done at St. Andrews University (total enrollment: 12,600 students) to determine student opinions regarding a number of issues. Five hundred students were selected at random for the survey. One of the questions asked was, “Do you plan to devote at least one year of your life to public service?” Responses are listed below.

Use a chi square test of independence to test a null hypothesis that student response is independent of class membership for the student population at the university. That is, determine whether sample results would cause us to believe that student responses would differ by class for the population of 12,600 students. Use a significance level of 5% for your test.
