3. Career Activity: Assume that someone in your organization must be transferred to a branch store and that the decision as to who will be transferred has been left to the employees. The branch store is 85 miles from your current store, and all jobs in this organization are considered functionally equivalent. In groups of three to seven, establish criteria to determine who should be transferred. Start the process by using nominal group technique, with everyone making an individual list. Then, using a flip chart or markerboard, follow the instruction on page 271 to make a complete list of criteria—go in round-robin procedure and number each item for easy reference.
From the complete list, have group members write down the numbers of their top five choices.
Then continue the NGT method by determining how many people voted for each criterion. Continue the process until you determine by a process of votes, your group’s top three criteria.
