Develop the content for a newsletter for a company or organization of your choice and then format
Question:
Develop the content for a newsletter for a company or organization of your choice and then format the content attractively. You need to select the newsletter type (Company, Consumer, or Organization), state the name of the company or organization, and then summarize the topic of each of the three stories. You can choose stories from any of the story types. For example, you could write an organization newsletter for a local charity that includes a news item, some announcements, and a profile.
Follow the steps below to write and format a newsletter.
1. On a blank piece of paper, identify a company or organization (it can be fictitious), and then brainstorm stories for the newsletter type you have chosen. You can adapt stories and articles you have written for other purposes or you can write new stories.
2. Complete the table below with the information you need to help you write the newsletter. Select a range of story types such as a profile, an article, and an announcement. For example, a consumer newsletter for a camera store could include an article titled “Traveling with Your Digital Camera,” a profile of a local photographer who is having an exhibition at an art gallery, and an announcement about an upcoming seminar on landscape photography. Note that you will need to make up information. Use fictitious but realistic details
3. When you are satisfied with the topics of the stories you want to include in your newsletter, open a new document and write the text for each of the three stories.
4. Set all four margins at .5”, and then save the newsletter as My Newsletter.
5. Include a masthead for your newsletter. You can choose to include a WordArt object and a picture if you wish. Make sure you include a date for the newsletter (for example, Fall 2011 or April to June 2011).
6. Format the heading for each story the same way and include a drop cap as the first letter for each of the three stories.
7. Add illustrations to your newsletter; at a minimum, include one picture formatted with the picture style of your choice. You can also include a SmartArt diagram if appropriate for the content.
8. Format some or all of the text in columns.
9. Limit the final length of the newsletter to one page.
10. Type your name at the bottom of the newsletter, save the document, and then print a copy.
