Question:

You have been asked by a local community group to create a presentation of approximately 12 to 15 slides that shares information about one of your hobbies or interests. For example, if you are an avid mountain biker, you could create a presentation to inform people about great mountain biking routes in your area. If you are interested in photography, you could create a presentation that describes how to set up an online photo album.

Follow the steps below to create a presentation on an area of interest to you.

1. Complete the table below with information about your presentation

2. Start Word, and then switch to Outline view.
3. Enter the three main topics for your presentation as three separate Level 1 headings.
4. Under each of the three main topics, add content in the form of bulleted items (Level 2 headings). Limit the number of slides for each main topic to no more than three.
5. Save the document as Descriptive Presentation_Outline, and then exit Word.

6. In PowerPoint, show the Outline tab, type the presentation title and your name as the subtitle on slide 1, and then on slide 2 type Overview as the slide title followed by the three main topics. Be sure to copy the Overview slide so it appears before each change in topic. Also, be sure to bold the topic on the Overview slide that will be discussed next in the presentation.
7. Save the presentation as Descriptive Presentation, import the Word document into your presentation starting on slide 3, and be sure a summary slide is the last slide.
This slide could include your contact information or a brief summary of the presentation content.
8. Apply the design theme of your choice, and then change the color scheme.
9. In the Slide Master, modify the Master title and Master text styles, and then add a logo or small clip art picture to every slide in the presentation except the title slide.
10. Reset the layout on each slide as needed.
11. Add clip art pictures or photographs to selected slides in your presentation if you wish. To insert a picture, click the Insert Picture button in the Illustrations group on the Insert tab. You size and position a picture in PowerPoint in the same way you do in Word.
12. Print the presentation as handouts of six slides to the page, save and close the presentation, and then exit PowerPoint.
