In 2007, the DMS network went through another major overhaul and was renamed MyFloridaNet (MFN).This new network retains the fundamental TCP/IP and networking architecture with many upgrades.We examine MFN in this case study.
Figure VI.1 illustrates the core network of MFN. Each network node consists of at least two high-capacity, high-performance routers interconnected for redundancy and equipped with performance monitoring and network management equipment.These links between nodes use dedicated optical fiber links operating at 622 Mbps and 2.4 Gbps, with a high degree of redundancy. The core is thus a highspeed, redundant, private Internet.
