5. Read the following extract from a leaflet published by a manufacturer of electric ovens and answer the questions which follow:
We have now perfected our Qualbest* fan oven. We consider this welltried, tested and proven fan oven to be the greatest advance in domestic baking and roasting since the introduction of thermostats in the early thirties.
In this Qualbest fan oven, the element which provides the heat is at the back, leaving the whole of the width of the oven free for cooking without any fear of scorching from elements at the side. The heat is recirculated by the fan throughout the oven, thus ensuring an even heat on all four shelves. The results are almost indistinguishable whether you put the food on the bottom or the top shelf!
Not only will you get the same results whichever shelf position you use, but you can fill every shelf from top to bottom of the oven;
that means really large quantities of food cooking at the same time.
Many slow-cooking foods like fruit cake are cooked as much as an hour faster. Food browns more evenly too, because the heat reaches all the surfaces of the food, not just those areas near the elements. This is a classic among ovens!
Improved sound insulation has been added to our latest fan ovens, too.
