At the Annual General Meeting of the Chilbury Tennis Club the chair man put forward a motion
Question:
At the Annual General Meeting of the Chilbury Tennis Club the chair man put forward a motion to recommend the adoption of the club accounts for the preceding year together with the report of the AwayFixtures Committee.
Mr W, a member, moved 'as an amendment' that the accounts and report be not adopted. The chairman asked those voting against this amendment to raise their hands and declared that the amendment had been defeated. He then asked those in favour of the motion to adopt the accounts and report to raise their hands. He then declared the motion carried.
The next item on the agenda was the increase of the auditor's fees to £50. Mr X moved that this be approved. Mr Y seconded the motion.
Mr Z, a member, moved an amendment to substitute £40 for £50. A discussion followed during which some speakers supported the motion and some the amendment. Mr Z then rose and decided to withdraw his amendment. The chairman thereupon asked those in favour of the motion to raise their hands and declared the motion carried.
