Record a natural conversation of about 6 minutes between some of your friends, and transcribe the middle 4 minutes of speech using normal orthography. Then add to the transcription details on pausing, loudness, tempo, and voice quality using the symbols described in this chapter. Comment on the ease (or otherwise) of the task, and the amount of prosodic information you have marked. How did you deal with overlapping speech between two conversants?
