On the first day of the job, a member of the management training program remarked: "The whole procedure of applying overhead and then spending at lot of time adjusting the Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold accounts back to the actual numbers looks like a complex solution to a simple problem. Why not simply charge the actual overhead to production and be done with it?" How would you reply to this comment?
