E The social progress index embodies a large body of research on moving ‘beyond GDP’ and older ways to defne success in society. They have instead identifed the social and environmental elements of the performance of countries, aiming to inspire action and have a positive impact. From this ‘map’ we can gather basic problems, to which we can imagine solutions and from which we can identify entrepreneurial opportunities and go on to design business models ready to be tested (see www.socialprogress.org and Figure 6.20).
