4.5 Electronic Arts (EA) is one of the world’s largest producers of computer games. In 2013, EA released a new version of the very popular game SimCity, but the release was a fiasco. To prevent pirating of the game, the managers at EA made the decision to allow gamers to play only online; that is, the player had to connect to EA’s servers. When EA first released the game, many players could not log in. Others, who managed to log in, could not play the game because EA’s servers crashed. Ultimately the CEO of EA resigned.
