1. Departmentalization by function organizes jobs by the functions to be performed. For example, in a hospital, the department of pharmacy is created to maintain all medication-related functions for the hospital. This form of departmentalization allows the organization to gain efficiencies from combining people with similar skills, knowledge, and purposes together in common units.
