The conflict management leader should use experts in resolving the conflict:

a. In a very limited fashion so as not to shift the focus of resolution from participants to expert.

b. The mediator transfers locus of control to the expert in substantially resolving the conflict.

c. As frequently as is necessary to provide the parties with access to whatever will help them resolve the conflict.

d. Only when the leader identifies that there is a particular problem with one of the parties and needs an expert to communicate that they are stalling problem resolution.
