Write a response in which you compare and contrast which of the three components is most often neglected by a company and explain why.

1. Chose the honest company founded by Jessica Alba, the honest company has created a full line of cleaning, beauty and baby products that are all organic, sustainably sourced and harvested, cruelty free. Our family has been using this line of products for over a year and I can say from personal experience, that they are just as good as your conventional cleaners. I feel safe using all of these products without any potential harm from chemicals coming to my family. The companies practice include using recycled materials in its packaging, committing to a reduction in petroleum used in transportation and packaging and even creating a sustainable work environment. According to its website, the honest company is "committed to operating with integrity & transparency, and with humble honesty, as we strive to always create better, do better and be better." (honest.com) in terms of the triple bottom line, I see several components of this in the honest company. The three factors that encompass the TBL are economic, environmental and social measures. Another way to represent this is profits, planet and people. The honest company absolutely encompasses all three of these factors in their company. In terms of operational functions towards a sustainable strategy, the honest company is continually striving to create sustainable products. As mentioned above, they care about the planet and it is part of their mission statement to create a sustainable product through better operations, packaging, etc. economically, the honest company is thriving. Currently, it is valued at over $1b according to Forbes. (forbes.com) when it comes to social responsibility, honest company is at the forefront as well. The honest company focuses on youth with their social efforts on two key fronts. First, they work with child development institutions to improve early education for those who are less fortunate. Second, they work with older children on skill training. (honest.com). I have personally done hours worth of research into this company. I can say that it is true to its word. I would be completely floored to find any evidence of green-washing.

2. The company new Belgium brewing--maker of fat tire ale. one way they meet the triple bottom line is by monitoring and recording all of their energy consumption and emissions. They also recycle, reuse, or compost more than 75% of the waste it produces. its people also have the use of bikes and a Toyota Prius to run any errands, which lessens their carbon monoxide footprint. They are also the third largest craft beer maker in the U.S., and earn upwards of $180 million in revenues. The company is also 100% employee-owned. I don't think they are green-washing their practices. Their practices, energy consumption, and emissions are listed on their website, and Forbes has even named them 4th in their list of companies considered best for the environment.
