1.Do problem 15.1, pp. 454-455 in your book. Test the hypothesis of independence between birth order and creativity, using = .05. Follow the procedure outlined in this lab. The data are in the file "lab9_as1.sav".

2.Analyze the data on Lunar Phase from pp. 457-458 in your book. Test the hypothesis that admissions to a mental hospital occur with equal frequency at any stage of the moon.Use = .05. Follow the procedure outlined in this lab for the goodness of fit test, or one sample chi-square.

Hint for creating the data set

You have a variable that has four different values. This means that codes 1, 2, 3, and 4 are sufficient to describe all the values of the variable. You will need to enter each code the number of times it occurred in the data set on p. 458. In the SPSS data window, enter the code 1 62-times, then the code 2 50-times, the code 3 60-times, and finally the code 4 56-times. At the end, you will have one column of data with 228 observations (rows). Call this variable "Phase" and create value labels 1 "Full Moon," 2 "New Moon," 3 "First Quarter," and 4 "Third Quarter."

What to turn in:

For each problem, list clearly all 5 steps (just as exemplified in this lab) including the SPSS chi-square test output in a word document.

For the second problem, besides all the necessary steps, your report should also include the residual comparison for each cell.
