Mcconnell and colleagues (2011) conducted several studies to examine whether people who own pets differ from those who don't in terms of their well-being, personality, and attachment styles (their expectations about close relationships). Table 4.4 shows the results of one of their studies. In this study, the t test was used to compare the pet owners to nonowners on vari- ous measures of well-being, personality, and attachment style.
