A 17 year old male, Danny has been referred to you from a volunteer youth club and has attended an initial appointment with you today. He states to you that his father died when he was 5 and that his mother has had a series of boyfriends, in her life for the past decade. Danny states that for the past 4 years, he has couch surfed at mates places and returned back home to his mother on several occasions, only to find that her current boyfriend at the time becomes resentful of his presence, and ends up abusing him. Danny is observed to be resistant to supports you have tried to offer. He is also observed to be angry and stressed, based on his non verbal behavior in the room (tightly crossed arms, looking downwards constantly, grunting in response to some of your questions). Danny states that he is keen to find independent living in a house or flat but expresses resistance in engaging with supports.
