Question
At room temperature of 25oC, a compressive load of 200 kN is applied to a circular steel rod with a diameter of 20 mm
At room temperature of 25oC, a compressive load of 200 kN is applied to a circular steel rod with a diameter of 20 mm and a length of 3 m. Under this condition, the bar elastically deforms so that the length of the rod decreases to 2.973 m and the diameter increases to 20.78 mm. If you put this rod into the temperature chamber (or an oven) immediately, fix the both ends of the rod, and increase the temperature to 40oC, then what internal normal stress will develop due to the temperature change? A thermal expansion coefficient of the rod is 0.000007m/m/Co. Report your answer to the accuracy of 0.1 in Mpa (Do not attach the unit to your answer)
