AirAsias unique no-frills business concept is an innovation that has changed the airline business forever. It started from one route between KL and Langkawi, two planes and a staff of 250 in 2002. Fast rewind to year 2002. Assuming you are invited to join Tony Fernandez (AirAsia founder and group CEO) as a co-founder. Tony Fernandez would like you to assist him to maximize companys revenue from flight ticket sales by maximizing the use of the two planes that you have.

Problem Definition

Design an algorithm for AirAsia to optimize revenue with the following input constraints and assumptions given below.

Input & Constraints:

  1. Number of plane: 2 (Boeing 737)
  2. Capacity: 150 pax per plane (not including cabin crew)
  3. Daily operation hour: 6am 11pm
  4. Flight duration and one-way fare (assuming constant and points 1 and 2 are vice versa):

Assumptions:

  1. The plane can stop overnight at either Kuala Lumpur (KL), Kuching or Kota Kinabalu (KK) only.
  2. The minimum time to board and unboard the passengers in between flight is 0.5 hour.
  3. How full the plane should be for every journey must be constrained by the daily demand given above.

Expected Output and Deliverables:

The body of your answer should provide the following:

  1. A description of the algorithm in English and, if helpful, pseudocode.
  2. Worked example to show more precisely how your algorithm works including such as shown below
    1. Daily and weekly flight schedule detail in the following format:
  3. image text in transcribed
    1. The corresponding total revenue earned based on the flight schedule
  4. An analysis of the running time of the algorithm (using Big O notation).

Note:

You should be as clear and precise as possible in your write-up of solutions. Understandability of your answer is as desirable as correctness, because communication of technical material is an important skill.
