You may use a calculator, Excel, class materials and Statcrunch whenever necessary. DO YOUR OWN WORK! 1. A very topical problem...Before deciding to join the videoconferencing boom, a company ran tests of its internal computer network. The goal was to measure how rapidly data moved through the network given the current demand on the network. Eighty files ranging in size from 20 to 100 megabytes (mb) were transmitted over the network and the time to send the files in seconds were recorded. This data is in Chapter 21 under Download in StatCrunch. Create a scatterplot where y = transfer time and x = file size (the first 2 columns). Does there seem to be a linear relationship? Find the equation of the line of best fit and write it down. Describe the meaning, if any, of the y-intercept and the slope in this equation. Graph the line of best fit. 2. Using the correlation coefficient r from the data in #1, is the correlation between file size and transfer time significantly different from zero? State 1f there is a strong, weak or no correlation and in what direction if there is correlation. What is r-squared in problem #1? What does this tell us? 3 Using the line equation from #1, predict the transfer time if the file size is 110mb. What file size would have a transfer time of 8 seconds? Finally, where would this mathematical model not make sense
