At the police station, police question Leo about the burglary. He states that he has nothing to say. Police tell Leo that it is in his best interests to talk, otherwise they will prevent him getting bail. Police do not inform Leo that he is entitled to speak to a lawyer and that he can choose to not answer police questions. Leo then makes a number of admissions to police in a taped record of interview. Following the conclusion of the formal police interview, Leo asks to step outside for some fresh air. A police officer accompanies him outside. Whilst outside Leo makes another admission to the police officer indicating his guilt in the crime.
