Background: Allison and Jake are lab partners, in an Introductory Physics class, who decide to investigate the acceleration of objects due to gravity. Allison chooses to drop a golf ball and Jake drops a tennis ball. Allison goes to a fire escape outside of her apartment and drops the golf ball from each chosen height. One partner stands at ground level to observe and time the drop, using the stopwatch feature on Jake's cellphone. Jake takes a different approach and uses a \"man-lift\" elevated platform, to raise himself to various heights in order to drop the tennis ball. They record the data shown below. They then look over the recorded data and wish to analyze it to determine the acceleration of each object as it travels to the ground. Your task: Complete each of the following sections, only, based on the background information and data presented: This report must be typed in maximum Size 12 font- using either Arial or Calibri. 1. Analyze the data provided by calculating, and showing the equations used to determine velocity and acceleration of each object. You must then create a data table for each ball, which includes these values, and the % experimental error values for acceleration (show formula for this). Remember, you are comparing the collected data, and the calculated acceleration ofa falling object, to the known acceleration value for falling objects, due to gravity. It is not essential to show all calculations from raw data, but a sample for each is necessary. Note that both data tables must have proper titles, headings and units. 2. Write a paragraph explaining possible sources of error in this experimental design. Golf Ball Distance Travelled (m) Time Taken (5) 3.5 0.60 2.8 0.55 1.8 0.42 3.0 0.60 1.4 0.36 Tennis Ball Distance Travelled (m) Time Taken (5) 2.2 0.48 1.9 0.48 3.1 0.66 3.5 0.63 2.2 0.51
