Unknown to Bobby Joe, Sam Slick, who was standing behind him in line, picked up the envelope containing the copy of the book laying on the floor and takes it home. After reading it, Sam realizes the potential of the book to be a bestseller and decides to exploit the opportunity. He scanned the book into his computer, changed the title of the book and changed the author's name to Sam Slick. Sam has connections in the publishing world and the book is published before Bobby Joe even gets a response from the publishers to whom he mailed copies. The book turns out to be a bestseller and when Bobby Joe bought a copy and read it he realized that it was exactly the same story that he had written.
