Company X manufactures widgets. Company X has recently come under federal investigation for mislabeling the weights on its packages of widgets. Specifically, the federal agency is accusing Company X of overstating the weights on these packages. Therefore, federal inspectors are trying to determine whether the weight of the contents is at least as great as that advertised on the packages (the agencys definition of mislabeling). All packages are labeled with a weight of 8 ounces. If the weights on these packages are overstated, Company X is overstating its inventory. In order to investigate this further, federal inspectors drew a random sample of 18 packages of widgets. All of these packages state the weight is 8 ounces.
