compose a response and follow up question to: "The lived experience that I have gone through that inspires the advocate in me is working retail security. I work in a major retail store and I work to stop shoplifters. When we catch someone stealing we do what we can to hold them accountable and get them help if needed. However, the courts almost always dismiss the cases because the dollar amount is not high enough or for any number of reasons. The issue is, the people are not held accountable and they just keep shoplifting again and again. They do not get any punishment so they never stop. I am not saying I want people thrown in jail or in a lot of trouble, I am just saying I want them held accountable for their actions and learn from their mistakes. Nothing too serious, but something that will teach them that stealing is wrong and to not do it again
