Develop and Run a COBOL Program to Produce a Simple Report

Introduction.

You are to design and develop a COBOL program to produce a simple report using the records contained in the OrderFil.Dat file. The report will contain page headings, report name, report date, page numbers, column headings, detail lines with columns evenly spaced over 132 columns and end the report with report totals. The format of the records in the Order File is:

1 - 4 Region ID Alphanumeric

5 - 10 Customer Number Alphanumeric

11 - 35 Item Name Alphanumeric

36 - 38 Quantity Ordered Numeric

39 - 44 Unit Price Numeric With two decimal places.

Actions:

Prepare a report layout that provides for page headings, report name, program name, report date page numbers, column headings, double spaced detail lines all evenly spaced over 132 columns. The report should end with a count of the number of records read and a total of the quantity sold.

Produce a File Environment Diagram for this program. [Suggestion: Create in Word using the Flowchart shapes.]

Produce a detailed flowchart for the algorithm to be employed in producing this report. [Suggestion: Create in Word. You can also use Microsoft Visio, if you have it. There are freeware flowchart apps; I have used SmartDraw in the past.]
