To test this claim scientifically, Pam-Ale & Associates run an experiment, of course, on Chaffey students. They randomly selected 21 participants from a student roster of singles at Chaffey. The participants had previously taken a lie-detector test to reject any potential impostors. Eleven participants were assigned to a sample who went out on a date, but the experience was unpleasant. The remaining 10 participants were assigned to a group whose date was pleasant. After the date, we measured each of the participants' levels of dopamine (1=low, 10=high). Below are the results.
