Dr. Bob has been referred to see a 9-year-old girl named Tiffany. Tiffany is exhibiting difficulty sleeping, separation anxiety from her mother, and difficulty learning in school. Tiffany has had a recent decline in her grades. When Dr. Bob met with Tiffany's mother, Tiffany's mother informed Dr. Bob that she and Tiffany's dad divorced two years ago, and they currently share custody. Tiffany believes that her problems began about six months ago, when she started spending one week at her dad's house and one week at her mom's house, and her father started seeing his new girlfriend. Tiffany's mother believes this new girlfriend competes with Tiffany for her father's attention. It took several weekly appointments before Tiffany began to opens up to Dr. Bob. She told Dr. bob that her father's new girlfriend was mean to her. Tiffany states the new girlfriend has told Tiffany that she will marry her father and things will be different. Tiffany says the girlfriend acts very nice to her while her father is around but does the opposite when he is not. One week, Tiffany stated that her father's girlfriend slapped her when her father was absent. Tiffany's mother has decided she is going to court to sue for full custody. The lawyer informs me that I will be subpoenaing all my records regarding my sessions with Tiffany and will be asked to testify. This is to support the need for a change in custody.
Do you think Dr. Bob will be serving in a forensic capacity, as a consultant, or in some other role? Please support your opinion with appropriate documentation?
