Luckily no one was injured seriously in the accident. At this time, the car is at a position of rest right after it struck the bicycle. Skid marks are visible from the car going into the collision. They can be clearly seen leading up to the wheels of the car. Once you have measured the length of the skid marks, it is your job to determine the speed of the car before the skid begins. You have noted that the speed limit in the area is 35 mph. The officers who first responded have informed you that the bicyclist claims the driver was going well in excess of the speed limit. The driver, however, says that he was not speeding.
