Feedback is extremely important to being as proficient to your job as you can be. Feedback is information about individual or collective performance shared with those in a position to improve the situation. (Kinicki, 2021) To provide effective feedback it needs to be more informational than an evaluation. Feedback has such a negative stigma on it even though it is meant to be used to promote growth. Positive or negative feedback is decided when it gets compared to goals or expectations, which are used for improvement. Positive feedback is perceived a lot better than negative. Negative feedback needs to be used with discretion because of how poorly it is perceived vs the positive feedback. (Kinicki, 2021) The establishment I work at utilizes coaching's vs just giving feedback. Coaching is a customized process between two or more people with the intent of enhancing learning and motivating change. (Kinicki, 2021) I believe the best method to give feedback is the sandwich method. I utilize the sandwich method a lot. The sandwich method is a feedback technique is a 3-step process to give corrective feedback or criticism, you give a positive feedback, negative feedback and then another possible feedback statement. (University of Findlay, 2022) The best way to except feedback regardless if its positive or negative you should take it as, this information is to help me grow as a worker in that particular industry or to help me grow as a person. If you can't take in feedback then it is going to be a challenge to continue to grow, also if you are able to take in feedback it shows your employer that you are able to adapt, this is a good think because that could lead to a possible promotion but above all it shows your commitment to the company.
