For many years, they were the launch pad for individuals and families to achieve financial stability. Unions are undergoing a resurgence with hourly- and low-paid workers demanding fair pay. Starbucks, McDonald's, Amazon, and most recently Trader Joe's (right in NYU's building on 14 St.!) have felt the wrath of people not being able to earn an adequate hourly wage to support themselves. In fact, Kmart has many employees receiving government assistance.

Do some research about the recent labor strikes and workers' grievances. What appear to be the principal labor-management issues? What has your experience been with unions?
