The Brownsville and Esingburg Camposes are the two major waste producing sites of Utrgv. The university wants to efficiently marage and recycle the trash. Estimates indicate the Brownsville campus Produces 500 tons/dag and the campus in Edinbarg Produces 400 tons/ day. The university has two major recyeing plants; one in tarligen and the other one in san Benito. Harligen can Process at most 500 tonsiday at a cost of $40/ ton, and San Benito can process at most 500 tons per day at a cost of $301 ton. The plants recycle 80% of the trash brought in, bot the remaining 20% most be sent to landfills as discarded material. The discanded material most be shipped to landfills each of which can Process at most 200 tons of discaded material Per day. It costs $3 ton per km to Snip trash or discarded material
