The manager I work for currently has what this week's readings would call an integrator where I would classify my flex style as separator. Integrators are defined by their "Continually blend work and nonwork activities during the work day (and nonwork items). These individuals exhibit temporal, mental, and physical blending tactics. Kossek et al., (2008)". This manager leaves work when family needs arise and works in the evening as his family is sleeping. He seems to blend his 8-hour day through the entire day and tend to whatever is most important at the time. This seems to work well for him though it has grown frustrating to be around as it can be challenging to predict when he is available aside from scheduled meetings. There are days when he will work remotely and be unavailable for select hours throughout the day which are communicated as they arise rather than before.
