Dementia is a general term forloss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that are severe enough to interfere with daily life. I have a relative that developed Lewy Body Dementia in the past 18 months and another that has just been diagnosed withPosterior cortical atrophy (PCA), also known as Benson's syndrome, which is a rare degenerative condition in which damage occurs at the back (posterior region) of the brain. So many of us have family members that are affected by dementia which in turn has an impact on us. I have chosen an article for your review this week that at least offers a little hope for those struggling with cognitive impairment and to the caregivers that are a part of their lives.
After you have read the article respond to the following prompts: Remember, these prompts are just suggestions. I am really just looking for your response to the article.
*What were some of the most interesting points?
*What questions might you have concerning the topic presented?
*Any connections to yourself, family, or the larger world...
Think of the article review as being just like our discussion activities without having to respond to others. It is a reflection about what you read. Use our grading rubric as a guide for your response.
