I need to reply/add to this and have EBP with citations and refences.
Throughout my college career and professional practice, I have gained a great deal of knowledge on professional development. This includes the proper way to conduct myself during professional presentations and assembling powerpoints to educate specific populations. Both aspects have become easier over the years but I still experience much anxiety if I am required to give a presentation. Some individuals are comfortable when standing in front of an audience but I am not one of them.
My personal strength is the ability to adapt within an environment and appear confident in a professional role. I made a great effort in being well-prepared and present visual aids within my powerpoint. It is about the way I present myself to others that appears to be confident even if I am nervous. A method I use is practice (Cristanita & Mandasari, 2022). It is important to work on these skills because it only betters myself when educating others through public speaking. My personal weakness is experiencing anxiety and trouble focusing while presenting information in front of a group of people. I used to forget my name when I got in front of a crowd but I have made improvements with experience. The beginning of last year I took a role as a school nurse which pulled me out of my comfort zone. In this role, I am responsible for providing education to staff at the beginning of the school year and to students throughout the year. I am still unable to speak without notes because my mind still gets foggy so I need an outline to follow. A method that works for me is relaxation techniques such as deep breathing (Boonma & Swatevacharkul, 2020). I take a deep breath and hold then let out to help regulate my heart rate to calm myself.
