Imagine that your instructor is the primary investor, chief marketing officer (CMO), or a major stakeholder associated with the business/product/service for which you are creating the marketing plan. As you reach each of the marketing plan checkpoints, your assignment takes the form of a professional memo. (In reality, you would attach the memo to an email message to the investor/stakeholder/CMO, but we will use the Canvas assignment function to deliver the memo.)
Use the Marketing Plan Memo Template Download Marketing Plan Memo Templateor make use of the template function in Microsoft Word. The chosen template should be as close as possible to the Interoffice Memo (Professional design) template. These are generated by clicking File | New, then typing Interoffice Memo into the search field.
Type an introductory paragraph explaining how you are progressing with the plan, using a formal, business writing style.
Align your section headings in the memo with the appropriate topics discussed in the textbook thus far in the course.
Write a progress report of at least 2 pages in memo format that includes the following headings and updates:
Company/Organization Overview Describe the company.
Product/Service Vision Describe the primary product/service for which the marketing plan will be developed.
Mission Statement State the companys mission statement.
Value Proposition Based on the value proposition concepts discussed in the text, state the value proposition for the product/service.
Marketing Research Discuss the types of primary and secondary research that need to be conducted for the product. Disclose evidence from your preliminary research about the market potential for the product/service.
The narratives in each of these sections are preliminary at this point in the project. Adjustments will be made based on further iterative thinking and feedback from your professor.
