Question:

Answer:
There are three different protocols for sending and receiving emails which include SMTP, POP, and IMAP.
SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is used for sending a message from one mail server to another. An example of this is someone sending an email from yahoo server to a recipient on the gmai.l server.
POP: Post Office Protocol is used to transfer messages from the mail server to the mail client. POP basically downloads emails to your computer. An example is Outlook retrieving a message from the gmai.l server.
IMAP: Internet Message Access Protocol allows the web browser to read messages on the mail server. IMAP allows users to store their email on remote servers.
